Meet the Instructors

Lidya Darmawan - Dance InstructorLidya Darmawan was born in Kediri, East Java on April 30 to Javanese parents; her father from East Java and her mother from Solo in Central Java. Her family moved to Lampung, Sumatera in 1971 where she spent most of her childhood. Lidya started her dance training at the age of 6, learning Tari Serimpi. Her first performance of Tari Remong and Tari Sembah was at the inauguration of the Mayor of Lampung. While living in Lampung, Lidya won the Teen Award in Solo Category performing Tari Gamberanom. After this big achievement, Lidya performed at various regional and provincial government events. In 1985 Lidya continue her dance training at the Padepokan of the prestigious Bagong Kussudiarja in Yogyakarta, learning both classical and modern (kreasi baru) Javanese dances. Lidya moved to the US in 1999 and started performing with the Indonesian Community in Delaware. Lidya has performed Tari Yapong, Mulat Wani and Tari Lilin at Goldey Beacom International Night as well as other community events. Lidya serves as Costume Manager and dance instructor for ICC.


Sinta Hite - Dance InstructorMutia Riasinta Penyami Hite (nickname: Sinta) was born in 1977 in Balikpapan, in the island of Borneo. Her parents hailed from Poso in Central Sulawesi. After living there for 8 years, her family moved from Borneo to Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. Beginning her dance training at age five, she studied dance throughout elementary school. Tari Bondan (Javanese) was the 1st dance she learned. In Jakarta she began studying Pamonian dance under Rein Puragombo, who was a protege of Bagong Kussudiarja of Yogyakarta and who also choreographed a new style (kreasi baru) of Pamonian dance.  Sinta learned dances such as Pepoinaya, Mopea ri Lobo, and Motaro. At age 10, she began performing at various venues including the Indonesia Miniature Park (Taman Mini Indonesia Indah). In 1999, she moved from Indonesia to the USNot giving up her passion for dancing, she started performing with members of the Indonesian community in Delaware at many different community and school events. Her dance experience not limited to traditional Indonesian folk dances; she has also studied and performed various Hip-Hop and Ballroom styles. She has an AFPA group fitness certification, and has experience teaching dance to both children and adults. Sinta is co-founder and dance instructor for the Indonesian Cultural Club (ICC).


Anik Yetter - Dance InstructorAnik Sugianti Yetter was born on March 3, 1982 in Kuta, Bali. Growing up in a community rich with culture and artistic expression, she has maintained a strong fascination for the dynamic movement of the great Balinese dances. Anik’s first performance was in 1987, when she performed Tari Puspawresti on her kindergarten graduation day. Afterwards, under the tutelage of her mother, Ni Ketut Sukarni, she received Balinese dance instruction from a local community center known as Banjar Anyar Kuta.  She has performed numerous dances, including Panyembrama, Oleg Tamulilingan, Jaran Teji, Tenun, Cendrawasih, Pendet, Puspanjali, Sekar Jagat, and Puspawarna. After moving to Delaware, Anik joined the Indonesian Community and has performed at many community and cultural events in the region. Anik loves working in different dance styles, and has experience with both modern and folkloric dances.  Anik is co-founder and Balinese Dance Instructor for the Indonesian Cultural Club (ICC).
